Description

Finasteride (Propecia)Finasteride (Propecia) is a drug in tablet form. Male athletes, the drug helps to cope with some side effects of steroids, the effects of which are manifested as: excessive body hair growth, prostate hypertrophy and baldness. Specificity of phenasteride is that it does not affect the production of cortisol, thyroid hormones and pituitary hormones. The principle of the drug is that it blocks the action of the derivative of testosterone, the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme is located in the hair follicles and is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. With the reduction of 5-alpha-reductase, there is no dihydrotestosterone, which is responsible for hair loss. Thus, with a decrease in the level of dihydrotestosterone, hair follicles do not interfere with development. Taking the drug on a course of steroids will protect against possible side effects of testosterone.
